Blogging for Income

Many people literally spend days, weeks, month, and years looking for legitimate online work that does not require some large investment or isn’t a complete scam.  Most of these large investments mean purchasing some sort of dubious “training” book or buying monthly access to someone’s “coaching” website.
This is extremely frustrating and often costly getting an education this way, let alone finding a way to actually earn money, not just spend it for training.

Some favorite sites call themselves an affiliate opportunity which is most definitely NOT MLM.  They scream this in bold letters on their cookie cutter sales letters.  But as one continues reading, they say one earns income when other affiliates sign up on your site.  Wait!  If one earns commission on an affiliate who signs up from one’s site, and continues to get paid monthly for as long as they are active, how is that so different from MLM?  The answer is, it’s not much different at all.

One of the best ways to start earning money online is to start your own blog and here's how to go about it.
1.  Find sites where you can begin a blog completely for free and then begin to monetize it.  Here are some sites where you begin a blog completely for free, no need to pay someone to build a site for you at all.  You can do it yourself.

blogger.com   (A gmail account is needed and from that one account, you’ll be able to set up as many different
blogs as you like or add different pages to just one blog)
Wordpress.com   This site has options to upgrade your blog as you go along.

Do a search for “free blog sites” and pick one you like.  Begin setting up your blog.

2.  Make posts to the blog every day.  Make your blog about a subject you love.  Once you become accumtomed to posting to your blog and making some money from it, you can expand to more blogs about things that are “niche” markets that you don’t know so much about.

3.  After you’ve entered a half dozen or dozen posts, get a Google Adsense account that links to your blog site.  If you use blogger, AdSense can be added from the beginning.  Other free blogging sites may offer this at the start-up as well.  As your readers visit your blog, they will begin to look at the ads and click through on those.  Whenever purchases are made, you earn commissions.  It may not be much at first; it just takes time.  The more skilled you become about key words and SEO, and the more readers you gather, the more income you will earn.

4.  It’s also a good idea to begin writing for some content sites; writing articles about subjects that appeal to you or that appeal to a wide range of people.  Write for sites that pay residual fees so that you may continue to earn on your work over and over.  Some of these sites, such as Factoidz, allow you to retain ownership of your work and after a specified period of time, you may post your articles elsewhere on the internet.  Doing reviews of websites that sell services or products make excellent, useful articles that will allow you to develop a loyal list of readers.

5.  It’s good to remember that the better the quality of your content, the more readership you will develop.  If you have an area of professional expertise, such as nursing, pharmacology, music, insurance, business management, personnel, income tax return preparation,  auto mechanics, design,  knowledge of actors and their work, home repairs, or any of a vast number of professions, draw on that experience and knowledge to write your articles and post in your blog.  There are a great many people writing on the internet about subjects they don’t have very much experience with.  The difference between your command of the subject and theirs will be immediately apparent to your readers.

6.  If you don’t already have accounts with social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg, Stumble Upon, and many, many others, set up those accounts and begin learning to use them.  Every time you post on your blog or write an article, put that information on these social media sites for others to find them.  If you still have a full-time job and finding time to do this sort of thing is difficult, consider paying someone who is skilled in promoting a business, a blog, or a product to do this work for you.  You will be able to find many online services that can be hired for a reasonable fee to do this type of work.  You may even hire people to write the articles and blog posts for you; however, be careful with this.  You will want the quality of your posts to be very high and written with excellent grammar and punctuation.

7.  A good way to promote your blog without making yourself seem very commercial, is to make posts on social media sites about events from your life or your work.  At the end of your remark say you are planning to put that in your blog or use your blog’s URL in your signatures where the social media site allows that action.

8.   Be sure to alert your family and friends about your blog so that they will visit and read what you have written.  Have business cards printed up so when you meet people in your daily work, errands, etc., you can invite them to read your blog easily by giving them your card.  Be sure to get their card in return so you can email them the next day with a polite comment about how nice it was to meet them and include the link to your blog in your email.

9.  Seek out information about blogging so that you will continually be improving your craft and your income.
There is much to be learned about blogging and building a better site as time goes by but this information will help you get started.    Try it out today!
